Week 7 in-progress

Working on Conceptual Illustration stuff all-ish weekend. I've had other engagements to attend to as well and I slept in quite a bit. But I have a loose final design of my main character. And I've gotten a considerable amount of blocking in for one of my environments. Unfortunately, my updated assets never made it through the dropbox, so I have to redo those. Also, quite unfortunate, I forgot my watercolor drawings in my room, and I can't scan those in until tomorrow. So those will have to wait.

But here's Hood and me having some fun with the hue/saturation sliders

Environment 1: The first is the thumbnail I worked off of. The second is my grayscale in-progress. I plan to work on the color in Corel Painter, for practice, and hopefully speed. And no, I'm not excited to draw a factory under that ledge, I wish I could just make it a pond.

I have acquired quite a bit of girly pen doodles in my notebook this quarter. Here is all of them plus one cute boy.

Master Copy

So I had 3 projects due yesterday, boy was THAT an experience. I haven't slept so much in weeks as I did since yesterday

Here is one of them. I had to do a Master Copy of some existing concept art. I did Wall-E, as I have the lovely book in my possession.

The top version is the original and the bottom one is mine.

Yes, I know I can't draw umbrellas. My patience drifted out the door after the 4-hour long bridge.

Concept Art Club

I went today and they had an art pass workshop. It was quite cool. We did an art pass in an hour and a half. I'm quite impressed what I can do in that time [though, I don't think I'll win the contest]

I don't know how many more times I can work on the same thing.

I really don't. But I think I'm table-flipping and keeping it the way it is, because I really need to start the actual assignment.

But hey, good news. The only homework I have this weekend is for Conceptual Illustration, but oh darn, it consists of 8 drawings like the one above. A complete master copy. 27 line tests, and 27 color tests. More assets for my environment, and actual start the finals for those. Only 4 more weeks until those are due on top of all my other work. [Oh how time flies...and then crashes into finals]

So, expect some updates [my dear non-existant followers] and hopefully I'll have some side things as a de-stressor [It's nice to hope, isn't it?]

Character Silhouettes

I had to do 150-250 character silhouettes in a day. Oh my.. Being the overachiever I am, I planned for 200. Being realistically okay with it, I got 150.

I also bought a Cintiq 4 pen, because I am sincerely tired of fighting for the very few [good] Cintiq 3's in the lab. And I am very much tired of fighting for a Cintiq 3 at all. Now I have 2 pens, and I can pick and chose which cubicle to reign [until SCAD gets Cintiq 5's, and for the sake of my wallet, they better not start on that soon.] Anyways. The black Cintiq's are much nicer and clearer and they don't make me nauseous when I work hours on end on them [maybe it's 'cause they're not so scratched up and blurry]

Anywho, silhouettes are mind boggling.

For clarity, and the sake of posting things on my blog. HERE ARE CLOSE-UPS. 20 per character, for class presentation purposes.

Lack of Productivity

It's been rough this past week.

I have to color 4 pages by Thursday for 1 class. I did 2 today.

I'm pretty satisfied with the turn-around. I drew the character last quarter for my character design class. I didn't bother fixing the line-art for color. Mainly because I don't have the time or patience to. (Actually. I haven't the slightest idea what Blogspot did to the colors. It's a lot more subdued, and perfectly fine in the original jpeg .-. [edit: I fixed it. darn channels])

And, I'm not done with this, but I am done with it for today. The line art is a scratchboard assignment I did almost a year ago. I want to digitally alter the blacks, but I need to focus on the colors first. I'm at a standstill with it for now. (Again, blogspot is hyping up my colors, and diffusing my value, I have no idea how to fix this [edit: I fixed this too])
